Special Lunch

IMG_5525

I am blessed to work part-time in an office with wonderful people. Today, we were treated to a lunch in honor of Administrative Assistant Day.
Our hostess has the gift of hospitality and loves to prepare and gift us with a meal on special occasions.

She loves dishes and has dozens of different table settings with linens and accessories to match. Today we had a black and white and pink theme……so pretty on the table.

I love birds! Maybe this is why this is one of my favorite table settings, of course,
I feel that way about all of them!

IMG_5523

It is hard to see, but there are even birds on the centerpiece.
Of course the food was delicious as always.

More sweet birds ……. I really wanted to pocket these and
bring them home to roost at my house!

A special thanks to Mrs. Glenda for giving us such a wonderful gift, making us feel loved and appreciated.

RESURRECTION DAY

This Easter Sunday lunch will be a little different this year.
Our daughter and son-in-law are out of town celebrating their anniversary and won’t be with us.
David’s mother will also be absent this year,
celebrating Easter with our Risen Savior!

The rest of the family will be joining us for lunch and I am looking forward to visiting with them around the table.
As you can see, we aren't real formal around here, mixing and matching everyday dishes and linens.

Our dining area is not very large so I keep a drop-leaf table in the living room to use when the whole family comes over.

A few bunnies hopped by and I decided to let them stay.

I’ll move this in front of the fireplace and raise the sides.
I have several old dinette cloths that fit this table perfectly.
I thought this one looked like spring and a little like Easter.
It may look a little busy but it reminds me of when I was a little girl and these cloths were always used on the table.

Here’s another bunny hanging out in the kitchen.

And just a few more in the living room!
These add a little fun and whimsy to the day, but in no way do we make them the main focus.

The dyed eggs and bunnies that remind us of new life that comes with springtime, also reminds us of the new life we have in Christ.

May you have a Blessed Resurrection Day

He is risen, He is risen indeed!

The Kildeer

As I was walking this week, I heard the cry of the adult Kildeer and knew I must be close to his nest. To my surprise, three baby Kildeer chicks were right beside the walking path.

I didn't have my camera with me, but I brought it the second time around. The babies had moved into the meadow and of course, no zoom lens, but I was able to get a few fuzzy pictures of these precious little birds.

They are the funniest little things,
bobbing up and down like a cork as they walk.

Here is a one of the parents, the male I believe. He was raising quite a racket and would drag his wing like he was injured. If I made a move to get closer, he would suddenly take flight.

I never know what I will see on my walk.
As a matter of fact, as I continued around the path I saw a three foot black snake about half way across my path near the bridge.
Even though he wasn't poisonious, I was so rattled that it never ocurred to me to take his picture. I just made a wide circle around him and kept moving!

God's world is always a wonder to me.

Through the Garden Gate

A few days ago, a sweet friend called me and said
"the garden is in full bloom, want to come see?"
My reply? I am on my way!

Let's go through the garden gate and get a peek of her beautiful flowers.

This iris is one of my favorites. The bloom was so pretty with its ruffles and lovely lavender color.

Just look at the red rose buds on the bush behind.
I'll have to make another visit to see that in bloom!

Here is another iris in the most delicious pink.
Not a great picture, but I had to share it's gorgeous color.

This sweet angel stood guard over the loveliness.

Clematis growing on the back fence and there
were azaleas blooming in every corner.

The lovely gate and garden shed were painted
by her talented daughter along with a mailbox on a post
in her garden. I didn't get a picture of that, but she uses it to tuck her gardening gloves and tools inside. Such a clever idea don't you think? May have to work that into my yard somehow.

Just look at these beautiful white azaleas.
I have never seen any like these.
They have a blush of pink on the blooms.

Just beautiful.

A true gardener has great joy in sharing a garden they have lovingly planted and tended. It is also a great joy to visit
the garden of a friend.
I hope our little tour brought you a little
happiness as well.

After the Storm

Blue skies

Nothing but blue skies

Do I see…..

IMG_5446

This past weekend, along with most of the country, we had storms with lots of wind and water. The rain was desperately needed in our part of the world and we welcomed it with open arms.
Fortunately, we didn’t have any hail or tornados.

After the rain, the green of the trees and the blue of the sky was beyond beautiful. The air was a bit cooler and as I walked, this old Irving Berlin song kept going through my head
(and no one sang it better than Ella Fitzgerald).

Hope your skies are blue and the
bluebird is singing at your house today.
