GIVING THANKS

IMG_4356

 It may be I am getting old and like too much to dwell
Upon the days of bygone years, the days I loved so well;
But thinking of them now I wish somehow that I could know
A simple old Thanksgiving Day, like those of long ago,
When all the family gathered round a table richly spread,
With little Jamie at the foot and grandpa at the head,
The youngest of us all to greet the oldest with a smile,
With mother running in and out and laughing all the while.

May your Thanksgiving be blessed with family, food and wonderful memories!

Verse from the poem  Old Fashioned Thanksgiving by Edgar Albert Guest

What a pretty picture, and a lovely, fitting poem! So appropriate for Thanksgiving...

A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, dear blogging friend....

One thing I am thankful for this year is that I found your blog with all of the pretty pictures and poems.....

I loved this poem, it made me think of Thanksgivings past when most of my relatives were still here. There are only a few of us now, but we have much to be thankful for and focus on that. But, oh, how nice it would be to go back in time...maybe it's just because I loved my grandmother's cooking more than my own! :)

Have a great day,
Cheryl
